It's ok to lie?

A few days ago while I was doing my daily reading I stumbled across a passage that talks about two spies that were told to go search for land (Joshua 2:4). They came to a place called Jericho. There, they came to a house of a prostitute named Raham and stayed the night.

While they were there, someone in the town found out they were spies and were there to gather information about their land. So the King of Jericho sent messengers to Rahab's house. When the messengers came to her house and asked if the men were there. Raham's responded, "they were here but left the town right before the gates were about to close." So the King sent out his me to purse the spies.

Later in Joshua 6:17, Rahab is commended for keeping the spies safe (by lying).

The Bible commends the women for not telling the truth. So where is the line drawn? Is there even a line? In Colossians 3:9 it clearly states "do not lie". So my question is; since it's not ok to lie why was Raham commended for lying?

So this is the first post. Huh?

Alright, first off, this text I'm using is looking quite bland. So how's this looking now? I think it looks a little better. If not, oh well. So I always have a hard time trying to come up with something good to say if nothing pops into my head before I start typing. I guess i'll conclude this first blog and leave it at this; come back in a few days (maybe sooner) to see what my next post will be about.

Till next time
